Are you hesitating between these two techniques?

Do you want to learn more about microblading and microshading before taking action? Then this article is made for you.

There are many micropigmentation techniques. Among these, we find more particularly microblading and microshading.

Other techniques are also used, but these two are the most popular. In this article, we explain what their differences are and which technique to choose.

For years, the codes of beauty of the eyes have been reinvented and evolved. You probably know that the eyebrows play a very important role in the beauty sector and more precisely in the beauty of the look.

More and more women are opting for different techniques in order to make their eyebrows perfect and exactly as they wish.

However, eye beauty techniques are developing day by day, so it can be quite difficult to keep up with all the latest trends.

You've probably heard of eyebrow microblading, but do you know what it is?

Also, have you heard of the microshading technique?

Yes, they sound the same, but these two techniques are quite different.

So who wins the battle between eyebrow microblading and microshading, and which technique to choose?

Let's take a look at it all:

1. What are microblading and microshading?

Microblading is becoming more and more popular and more and more beauty salons are specializing in this area, given the growing demand.

Before choosing your beauty salon to take the plunge, let us first explain to you in detail what eyebrow microblading is.

The eyebrow microblading service requires no surgery, only lasts a few hours and remains completely painless. It requires the use of a tool that helps place the pigment into your skin.

This allows you to draw hair-like strokes. The practitioner ensures that the pigment penetrates the skin of your eyebrows, leaving beautiful strokes that look like real hair.

This procedure is not painful. A good practitioner with a good technique and well trained will perfectly know how to make the experience comfortable.

Choosing a good beauty salon is of utmost importance. A beauty salon that masters the art of microblading can work wonders with your eyebrows. On the contrary, those who do not master the technique can make them catastrophic.

To help you in your choice and avoid failed microblading, ask the beauty salon for photos of its work: Microblading before after, microshading before after, the evolution of microblading healing, check the opinions of its clients, etc...

Also, opt for a beauty diagnosis of your eyebrows before taking action.

For example, at Sobella Paris, before each intervention we offer our clients a completely free beauty diagnosis.

This allows us to present our work, to study the complexion of the skin and to define the best technique to sublimate the beauty of its look.

2. Microshading in a nutshell?

Even though they are very similar in nature, eyebrow microshading is a bit more different than microblading.

This technique, unlike microblading, does not draw hairs in your eyebrows to give the illusion of having hairs in addition to your natural hairs. Microshading uses a dotted technique that gives your eyebrows a shaded and made-up effect for a long-lasting and foolproof hold.

3. What is the difference between microblading and microshading?

The difference between these semi-permanent makeup techniques is due to the fact that microshading uses a different tool.

  • Microshading creates a soft ombre effect, which looks like eyebrow powder. This is the look you can see in the photos of many influencers and celebrities.
  • Microblading, on the other hand, allows you to draw natural-looking hairs, while microshading gives a makeup and powdered effect to your eyebrows.

As a result, your eyebrows will look fuller and thicker.

4. Who is microblading offered to?

Microblading has been widely chosen by thousands of women around the world.

Just take a look at your favorite shows and you'll see dozens of celebrities who have opted for microblading.

It is simply for all women (but also for men). Especially for those who want to completely restructure the shape of their eyebrows.

If, for example, you have sparse or asymmetrical eyebrows and want to correct them, Microblading is for you.

Remember, however, that the result will greatly depend on the type of your skin, the shape of your face, and the technique of the beauty salon that will take care of you.

5. Who is offered microshading?

Microshading creates a different effect, so if you have certain empty areas in your eyebrows that you want to fill in with a shadowed and makeup effect, then you should opt for this technique.

You don't need to switch to microblading unless you're unhappy with the shape of your eyebrows.

Also, if your skin is somewhat sensitive or you have an oily T-zone and you can't stomach microblading, microshading will be a great option for you.

Keeping all this in mind, we can say that "microshading is the little brother of microblading".

Many experts agree that if you suffer from sensitive or oily skin, this is the best procedure for you because it suits your skin type better.

6. The Killer Suit!

However, why talk about microblading vs microshading when you can talk about the combination of the two?

We clearly recommend this solution, which is clearly the best option to have perfect eyebrows.

The ombré effect of the eyebrows is obtained with the combination of these two techniques and is currently very popular.

7. How long do they last?

Microblading and microshading last on average 1 year. However, this also depends on the competence of the beauty salon and how you maintain your eyebrows after the service.

Of course, you'll need a touch-up appointment after about a month. At Sobella Paris, retouching is included in our price.

8. Do these practices hurt?

One of the frequently asked questions is whether these procedures hurt. Every procedure or treatment that requires incisions in your skin should be a little painful.

The good news is that if your beauty salon is competent, they will be able to take care of you with the practice so that your session is not painful.

9. To summarize

Whatever technique you opt for, be it microblading or microshading, make sure you choose the right beauty salon.

It must be certified and also take a look at the photos of the eyebrows they created. Since photos never lie, you will be able to see if they tend to create misfired microbladings or failed microshadings and therefore give you a better review.

Also, make sure that the latter offers a free diagnosis.

This will allow you to discuss all the possibilities available to you with the practitioner and decide together which technique suits you best and what shape of eyebrows you want.

The practitioner will be happy to help you create the best result and enhance your look.
